Happy Mother’s Day! Motherhood is certainly cause for celebration! Today is such a sweet day, and I’m hoping there are a few mamas out there who are enjoying an extra special surprise: portraits of the little ones who made them mothers. Like one of my favorite friends, who I know will adore every one of these images of her no-longer-the-baby-but-still-(always)-her-baby, Tyler. He was so excited to help create them; I can only imagine how proud he’ll be when she sees them. Happy Mother’s Day to all, and a little extra Mother’s Day love to Tyler’s mom, Cindy – now a proud mom of three!!

Sunny days are here again! Or, at least, they were. And we took advantage of them! Violet and I joined my friend, Tracey, and Violet’s friend, Elsa, when temps climbed into the 80s just a few weeks ago to soak up some sunshine and shoot some photos! It was the perfect girls’ night, and the perfect segue into the prime photography season. Looking forward to lots more sessions this summer!

Violet adores having her face painted. No ordinary face painter will do, of course, now that we’ve found Stacia Nicholson. Her work was a huge hit at Violet’s fourth birthday party last year, and both Violet and Ruby were thrilled to see her and get painted again at a friends’ party this spring. So when Stacia and I got together yesterday to photograph some of her stunning designs for the Boise Face Painting by Stacia Nicholson website, Violet was more than happy to volunteer as one of our models (sporting the princess crown, of course)! No, not our Ruby – she’s Ruby Claire, and (*sniff sniff*) not so little anymore! This is Ruby Jean, a tiny little thing who belongs to one of Violet’s most beloved teachers. I felt so fortunate to get to snuggle her all morning just a couple weeks ago; she was the sweetest, most peaceful newborn I’ve ever known. I can’t wait to share more of her session soon.

It’s no secret I miss summertime. I love warm blankets and hot soup, but I could do without most of the rest that goes along with this time of year. But the past couple of years have introduced a new bright spot: watching Violet learn to ski. It’s something her dad is passionate about, and it looks like he’s not the only one in our family. So amidst grey days and shoulders hunched against the cold, I am basking in this:
